The Nintendo NX could be one of the most revolutionary consoles of all time, but the only official information we’ve had so far from Nintendo is a vague release date of March 2017.
Everything else we know about the console has come from a number of leaks where we’ve learned some pretty tantalising details about the new machine.
Nintendo has always been a company willing to do its own thing. While Sony and Microsoft have fought over having the more powerful machines, Nintendo has focussed its attention on interesting controllers and 3D displays.
The NX is looking like it’s going to be a very weird console, but that’s the great thing about Nintendo. When it comes to the PS5 and the Xbox Two we can be fairly certain that the consoles will be controlled through some fairly typical controllers, and they’ll feature a graphical upgrade from the last generation.
But Nintendo is different. It has a way of embracing new technologies, and while it might not always work out for them, it nevertheless makes for some fantastically interesting pieces of hardware.
