Racing wheels are nerdy things. Andy from The 40-Year-Old Virgin probably owned one before selling it, along with his action figures, when he went straight from undateable to step-dad.
But here’s the thing: unlike staring at action figures in a glass case, racing wheels are fun.
Low-fi wheels bring back memories of playing Daytona at the arcade (you may need to be 30 or over to appreciate this), and high-end ones recreate the forces and sensations of a real-life racing car steering wheel. It’s all down to something called force feedback, with a series of motors making you fight with the wheel, simulating what you’d feel when tearing up the track in a Mini Cooper, or whatever your preferred steed is.
We’re going to compare all the best and most important racing wheels, to see whether Logitech is really better than Thrustmaster, and what the other options are.
