ARM today unveiled two new CPUs catering to the high-end and mid-ranged market segments respectively. Starting with the Cortex-A75, the company claims that this CPU offers 22% better performance compared to the Cortex-A73. Further, the CPU can apparently use just 2W of power and offer a 30% increase in performance on large screen devices.
The Cortex-A55, in the company’s words, is the “most versatile high efficiency processor”. It is said that the CPU offers 15 percent more power efficiency compared to the predecessor, in addition to 10x more scalability, and 2x memory efficiency.
Both CPUs use the company’s latest ARMv8.2-A architecture, offering optimum performance. The company is touting the presence of a new Dynamiq technology, allowing manufacturers to conveniently mix up the CPU cores suited to their liking. Basically, the new processors offer greater versatility to companies like Qualcomm when designing their SoCs.
The company also unveiled the new Mali-G72 GPU, which is touted to be very efficient. It will offer a 1.4x increase in performance compared to the Mali-G71, which is pretty amazing. It works on the new Bifrost architecture which will reduce the space used and offer optimum performance. This particular GPU will also come with some machine learning …read more
