Chances are, when you think about PC gaming, the word “free” doesn’t come to mind. Building a new, VR-ready PC on a budget designed to challenge the latest consoles can still be expensive. By the time you’ve invested all you can in hardware, the games themselves may be financially out of reach. Then again, who says the best things in life aren’t free?
It’s 2016, and while full-price triple-A games still exist, you don’t have to break the bank to experience the latest from publishers like EA and Activision – there are plenty of free-to-play PC games to choose from. Sure, you’re not going to see titles like Red Dead Redemption 2 for a nominal charge, but you’re someone who would rather invest hours in a game than tangible earnings.
Moreover, thanks to Windows 10 and the Xbox Play Anywhere program, there’s no time like the present to start perusing the latest entries in classic franchises like Killer Instinct and Forza Motorsport without spending a dime – as long as you haven’t skimped out on Microsoft’s latest OS.
