New Xbox
The Xbox One S has just arrived, bringing with it 4K upscaling and HDR to Microsoft’s console, and Project Scorpio is set to arrive next year with native 4K content, and much beefier internals. It’s all starting to make us wonder, when will we eventually see an all new Xbox console?
When we talk about the next Xbox we don’t just mean a console that plays the Xbox One‘s current games, we mean a completely new platform, with its own games, its own hardware, and a completely new interface to boot.
But now that we seem to be moving towards an almost smartphone-like release schedule for consoles, its difficult to know exactly what form the Xbox Two will eventually take. Will it be an iterative upgrade to Project Scorpio, or will Microsoft go back to the six-year lifecycle that it’s been following since the original Xbox?
We have more questions than answers at this point, but you can be sure just as the sun is going to rise out of the east tomorrow, at some point Phil Spencer will have to take the stage at E3 and say, “Yes, Xbox Two is coming.”
