Anyone who just purchased a shiny new PlayStation 4 for Black Friday may be in for a bit of a holdup, as PlayStation Network is currently having issues with users signing in.
Reportedly starting around 3pm in UK time, PSN has been experiencing difficulties, locking out key online features for the PS3 and PS4. These issues have been reported in the US, UK, and Europe.
The issue was confirmed on Sony’s support page, where music playback and login issues are both currently listed as being worked on.
“We are aware that some users are having connectivity issues with PSN this morning,” said PlayStation support staff in an official tweet. “Thanks for your patience as we investigate.”
It is still unsure how long the outage might last, as well as its origin. One possibility could be that PSN overloaded following the PlayStation Store’s Black Friday sale, in which several movies, games, and other digital content were cut in price.
PSN is no stranger to sudden outages, but we’re crossing our fingers that the issue will be resolved soon and isn’t something nefarious like another hack or DDoS strike.
